3 Favorite beach music cd's in "hurricane box"
Oh Irene, what a start to this years 'Water Event Season' (some of us who've lived on/near the coast for many years - and still come out on the Up side of certain storms - just don't say that "H" word outloud any longer). No need to tempt Fate. We've commiserated with friends on their losses....parts of houses, cars, outbuildings, yards, boats, farm equipment, livestock, whole houses...to those kinds of storms, and said a very reverent prayer of Thanks it wasn't us....this time. Living in…

Dancing slippers!
Dancing should be comfortable -- loose clothing, weather not too hot or too humid (lots of variation in what's "too hot" or "too humid" between Northerners and Southerners, true colors really show). But it's all about the shoes. Remember learning to dance the shag? Sand on a concrete floor, or just sand, depending if you were under the covered pavilion or not, flip flops/zories/beach shoes or just barefoot. But dancing indoors during non-summer months required shoes. As kids, we always…

I’m here to explain the Carolina Beach Music Awards (CBMA) and why it is important for YOU to join the CBMA.
I want YOU to use your imagination while I tell this story. Imagine that YOU are the lead singer of a Beach Band, and imagine that in January YOU wrote and recorded a great new song with YOUR band. During…

Beach Music over caffeine
Is the whole world tired in August?
Seems like there's been a spate of television commercials recently showing adults in the afternoon reaching for a pick-me-up, usually some kind of energy drink or pill. Been there; for me it was always plain, long over-brewed black coffee-sludge by that time of day. It was the fuel of the office machine, didn't matter what the type of office was. No pfou-pfou kind of berry tea or 'flavored' coffee (Question: if you don't want coffee that tastes like…

Dancing might be best left for the weekend
Our shag club dances during the week, and truth be told, slowly unfolding from the bed and moving achingly through the day after isn't quite as much fun as it was, oh, say ten years ago......shoot, even four years ago, before the most recent knee surgery. Working out at the gym, not a bodybuilder's routine, just enough to keep joints from totally locking up, stretching to stave off the osteoporosis that is intent on robbing me of my somewhat gravity challenged height, none of it seems to…

It has been just over four years since I first heard about “Internet Radio”. Yea, I know…where was I? I still consider myself relatively new to the internet. Many from my age group (I’m 56) have found embracing the web more than a little difficult and I still struggle a bit…I admit it. But, I do realize how the web has changed the world and that the future success of any entity will depend largely upon how well it adapts to change, and more…

My friend Dave Fulton sent me this in an email today...thought you might enjoy it as well.

We’ve been very focused for these first few weeks getting our music programming in place. The first phase of that effort has been completed as we now turn our efforts to getting more involved in the music and dance scene and spreading the word about ShagCityUSA.com.
We’ll be doing more and more live interviews with your favorite bands over the next months and would like very much to add some talk radio into the mix. We’ll be…

Sorry for the delay in getting this out, but it’s been a little crazy around here since the launch of ShagCityUSA. Last week I had the pleasure of conducting our first live interview for ShagCityUSA. We had Chris “Silk” Terry, Joe Turner, and Katrina Gladden live in the Zeus Radio studio to get to know more about Carolina Soul Band.
The band played later that night at Ducks. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend, but I have heard several folks say it was an awesome…
